Meet Tessa Nayowith! The newest addition to AHPTs team. We are so happy to have her supporting our patients!
Tessa is a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and trauma-oriented yoga instructor. She is drawn to massage as a way to heal from physical and emotional trauma and has pursued additional training in Visceral Manipulation, Zero Balancing, Integrated Positional Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing as well as Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra. She weaves elements of each of these modalities together to create a trauma-informed approach to body work.
Tessa has worked with a wide variety of clients from newborns to elderly in a variety of settings with a focus on physical and mental health and rehabilitation. She is passionate about healthy development and healing through embodied touch, movement, community and play, and loves the science backing these modalities.
Tessa received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Liberal Studies and Psychology, and a certification in Traumatic Stress Studies from the Justice Resource Institute in Brookline, MA. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a focus on body based practices and aims to research massage as an effective treatment for mental health issues.
